The last Month

Over the last month we have been pretty busy!  It seems like I've been gone for the last month straight!  I know that isn't the case, but I've been gone quite a bit and when I am home I'm working to make up for it!!  Here's what has happened:

Wes's sister Emily came to visit for the first two weeks of July.  We spent a lot of time with her and Linda ate a lot of great food, went to the dog park, and went to Lake Roosevelt for a day at the beach!

We went to Olympia for Carson's farewell.  He is currently in the MTC and will be serving a mission for the LDS church in Tampa Florida Spanish speaking.  So all the siblings and most of their families were in Olympia for the weekend.  The last time we will all be together for 2 years!!

We took Oliver camping for the first time at Sullivan lake for a Family reunion.  Overall he did pretty well except for the fact that he woke up around 5am every morning and wouldn't go back to sleep!  Thank goodness I brought my jogging stroller, because he napped in that thing at the beach once or twice a day!  He was a dirty mess but I just had to embrase it because we were camping!

Oliver and I just got home last night from a road trip with Emy, my older sister, and her 3 kids to Cardston Alberta Canada to visit family!  That was a 7-8 hour drive from Spokane, needless to say that was a little crazy!!  We had tons of fun, but Oliver was at a really hard age...I had to follow him around everywhere because my grandparents don't have their house childproof house...I can't imagine why not...

Oliver's belly is hard to fit in the shirt!

Oliver started walking at 13 months...just a few steps here and there with lots of encouragement.  Then last Tuesday he figured out how to stand up without holding on to anything and now he's walking everywhere!!  Its really fun, now I just need to find shoes that will fit his fat feet so he can actually walk outside!

Oliver turned 1 on May 18th, to celebrate we went to the Spaghetti Factory with Grandma Linda!  It was a tradition while Wes was growing up to go to the Spaghetti Factory for your birthday every year, so we decided to carry on that tradition!  Then a last Saturday we had a joint Birthday Party with Duncan whose birthday is June 11th.  Oliver adopted the attitude of "it's my party I can cry if I want to..." so we didn't get that many pictures of him actually smiling the little stinker!!  But I did give him his second hair cut the night before the party so we could spike his hair up again!  At Oliver's one year check up he weighed 25 lbs 11 oz and was 31.5 inches long (both 96th percentile still) and of course he had another ear infection!  Oliver is not quite walking although I think he is getting close, he lets go of things and stands by himself a lot now and his balance seems to be improving.  He is pretty content crawling though, he can get pretty much where ever he wants that way and has even start climbing up things (like Christie and Ryans piano bench!)  He claps his hands and pants when you ask him what a doggy says.  He is obsessed with dogs!!  We were out jogging the other day and he got really excited because there was a dog in front of us then we passed the dog and he started crying because he couldn't see it anymore!  He always crawls to where Mitzy stays in the house and pants!  Here are some recent pictures of our little toddler!!

Almost a year...

After Jena's graduation Oliver peed all over his clothes while I was changing him, so this is what he went home in.

Oliver will be a year old in 2 weeks!!  I can't believe it!!  He isn't walking yet, but he's crawling around everywhere and getting into everything he shouldn't!!  For some reason he loves anything that plugs in and has a cord!  He loves it when I vacuum, he just follows me around and tries to play with the cord.  He's really into taking food out of his mouth to examine it, then eat it again.  He also thinks its really funny to just spit it out, especially veggies!  He's just starting to try to feed himself with a spoon.  I think his favorite foods are bananas and cheese (not together..)  He pulls him self up on everything and he's so tall it seems like nothing is safe!  Lately he is into taking 3 hour morning naps and skipping the afternoon naps.  Wes and I have so much fun with him and love all his new stages...even if they are a little busy!
